Stephen Robert Unwin was convicted of the murder of John Greenwell 73 in 1999. In 2018 he was convicted of the murder of Quyen Ngoc Nguyen 28.
John Greenwell was suffering from a terminal disease and was in bed when sease Stephen Unwin broke into his bungalow on 24 December 1998 to burgle it. during the burglary he beat John Greenwell with a blunt instrument, thought to have been a camera and then stabbed him in the chest.
Stephen Unwin then took a television set and a video recorder back to his house which was nearby. when he left he set fire to John Greenwell's bungalow.
He took the television and video back in two trips and as he was going home with the video he was stopped by a police patrol but gave them an explanation that they accepted. However, when the police later went to John Greenwell's bungalow they noticed that the television and video were missing and went back to see Stephen Unwin who they found watching a horro video and whilst they searched his home they said that he engaged a policeman in animated conversation about it.
Stephen Unwin and William McFall were convicted of the murder of Quyen Ngoc Nguyen 28.
They raped and murdered her and then dumped her body in a burning car.
